Happy June, Friends! I love June so much and I’m not saying that because it’s my birthday month..but really it’s my birthday month ya’ll! I am feeling pretty good; it’s the end of the school year, I just wrapped up 3 book projects and I made myself a shiny new website!
I wanted to share a few books that I had the pleasure of working on this spring.
Happy Baby, published by Priddy Books. Available for pre-order now and in stores October 2023. I got to draw all my favorite happy things with this one and I love it!
Wrapped up illustrations for the second book in an adorable series with Little Simon called ‘Mermaid for Each Other’ - filled with cute sea creatures and sweet puns! Also available for pre-order and on shelves December 2023.
Maybe your little one is about to be a big sibling?? I worked on this fabulous activity book ‘You’re Going to Be A Big Sibling’ written by Manon Chevallerau, published by Odd Dot. Also available for pre-order and in stores March 19, 2024! There are sticker sheets in this one! Sticker sheets!
Thought about updating my website for over a year and I finally got the nudge with a little help from my friend Sabina of DGresources. (Thanks for your help, Sabina!)
I’d love it if you had a look around! Click on the image to head over.
Really excited to share a few mentorship options if that is something that interests you. I just finished up a 3-month mentorship and have lots to share in my next newsletter!
Favorites this month:
Read The Creative Act: A Way of Being by Rick Rubin and wanted to highlight so many lines from it. “ To dismiss an idea because it doesn’t work in your mind is to do a disservice to the art. The only way to truly know if any idea works is to test it. And if you’re looking for the best idea, test everything.”
Late to the game, but I’ve been playing lots of Stardew Valley and I really love listening to the soundtrack while I work.
Re-downloaded the Huji photo app and I feel like I’m back in my point and shoot camera days. It’s really fun and I don’t have to wait for my film to develop.
Found this little guy on my computer, something my kiddo was working on in her coding class. I love it!
Until next time!
-Denise
The website looks wonderful! Well done. And those books all look like lovely projects to have worked on.
PS CONGRATULATIONS on your Faculty of the Year in Illustration award at Columbia College!!! Just saw this in your about section! Hello, rock star level!
